Update as of March 12, 2003
As of Wednesday March 12, 2003 most of the move has been
completed. There are still a number of people though dialing into the
old numbers. These numbers now have very limited capabilities so if
you are still using the old numbers now is the time to change. We are
still in the process of moving our ISDN customers over to the new
numbers and once that is done the old numbers will be taken down
totally. If you are still in need of assistance changing to the new
phone numbers please call tech support or send an email to support@thegateway.net
and we will get you the help you need.
Update as of March 6, 2003
As of Thursday March 5, 2003 we are going ahead with the move. We will
be tweaking You can download the Internet Gateway Update program and
run it to change your settings just keep in mind that when you run
this program it will reset your home page back to www.thegateway.net
and it will also set your email address to name@thegateway.net.
Some customers are still using the name@igg-tx.net
If you don't want your home page or email address reset then please
don't use this program instead follow the directions in Changing
your dial-up settings. If you do use the program and you were
using the old name@igg-tx.net you
will still continue to receive mail at name@igg-tx.net
as you have in the past. If your computer has two modems this
program cannot determine which modem to use to dial-up with. If you
cannot dial-up after installing this program check the properties for
your Internet Gateway connection and make sure the correct modem is
chosen.
Download Internet Gateway Update
and then run the program. Click on setup and you will be shown an Internet Gateway logo
just click on that and follow the directions by putting in your
username and selecting your location. It may take a few minutes to
reconfigure things so be patient as it goes through the process. You
will get a configuration complete message when this is done. Click OK
and you should be ready to go. As always if you have questions please
call tech support. Due to the change
over calls to tech support may experience a longer than normal hold
time so we ask that you remain patient and calm during this time. We
are striving to do be the best but changes like this don't come easy
so we thank everyone for being patient and working with us during this
time.
Dial-Up Changes
On Wed. Mar. 5, 2003 Internet Gateway will begin the process of
moving all Dial-up phone lines to a new location. There should be no interruption
of service during this time. If you are in the 915 or 830 area
code then you can ignore this as your phone number will not be
changing at this time.
We are making this change in an attempt to improve our service in
some of
our outlying areas as well as to expand our coverage area. The change
will
also allow us to add new lines quickly and allow lines to be better
utilized
by all locations we service.
On Monday Mar. 3, 2003 we
would ask that people try the new number you will be given shortly to
make sure things are working properly for your area. Just keep in mind that the new
number may be down some during this time to make any adjustments so
keep the old number handy. This new number will also be limited on the
number of calls it can handle until all the equipment is moved and put
into place. This will be done over Thursday and Friday. If you get a busy
signal on the new number then try the old number. We plan on shutting
the old numbers down by March 10, 2003.
We will also be making a change to our DNS server but to most
customers this will have no effect on them. For customers that have
put in a DNS number in their settings that will need to be changed to
206.224.92.10. Please call tech support if you are unsure about this.
What all this means to you is that you will have to change the
phone number you are dialing in to. You can get a list of those
numbers below. If you need any help changing this number please call
tech support or see Changing Dial-up Settings. We will also be providing a download that you can get
that will change all the settings for you later in the week. For the most part changing
the phone number is a simple task of opening the dial-up connection
and clicking on properties and changing the number.
Customers with dedicated IP's will have to change their IP's so we
will be getting in touch with those customers within the next few
days.
Coming up within the next few weeks will be changing our mail
server so that we can provide better email support. We will let
everyone know when this has been completed. No changes will be
required by you at that time.

service to all our customers. Keith Stolle
